Busy Bees in 6V

27/10/2016
Wowee! 6V cannot believe they only have another 6 weeks together before they head off on amazing adventures at high school. There are so many exciting events coming up this term and preparations for graduation are well under way, and under wraps! They are also looking forward to their break up day at the Aquatic Centre, the swimming carnival, and are aiming high to achieve their goals for the Night of Excellence.
All students have been working extremely hard, particularly in spelling, and making sure they are in tip top shape with their times tables. Students have also had their lab coats out as they conduct mouldy bread experiments to determine the most suitable environment to store bread and other food products. Through this process they have discovered that mould appears in different colours and shapes and have even learnt how to classify them according to their scientific name. Students have been getting hands on in mathematics using Yumi maths to further explore multiplying and dividing decimals. 6V are even lucky enough to have Mrs Harrington join us for these maths sessions each week sharing her knowledge of the Yumi mathematics program. Thanks Mrs Harrington!
This term students have also been extremely enthusiastic about immersing themselves in independent reading, choosing texts for enjoyment. They are discovering that reading time makes them feel relaxed, calm, sleepy and positive which assists in having a productive day.
