Book Week is almost here – “Yay!” I hear you all scream in unison! I know, I know, me too. Books have that effect on me all the time. I’m extra excited about the new texts children will be introduced to over the next couple of weeks as well as some fabulous activities to enhance their learning. We have a number of key events that we are holding in conjunction with Book Week this year.
The first is our Book Week performance “Fair Dinkum” for Preps to year 4 this FRIDAY 19th August.
Our Book Fair will be running in the Resource Centre from Friday 19th to Wednesday 24th August before and after school.
Our “Bedtime Stories” Pyjama Reading Night will be on again this year; next Wednesday 24th August from 5:00pm – 6:30pm in the Resource Centre. It is always such an enjoyable way to share the love of reading with our little learners and their families. Please note, all children are to be accompanied by a supervising adult during the event. Don’t forget your PJs, dressing gown and slippers.
And last, but certainly not least, we will have our Book Character Parade on Friday 26th August to conclude our week of bookish festivities! Children are asked to dress up as a character from a book. We encourage them to bring the book along or even a copy of the cover on the day. The spectacle will begin at 8:45am in the hall. We hope to see as many of you there as possible. Don’t forget, parents/carers are also welcome to get into the spirit and dress up as well as join us for some morning tea after the parade.
