What a fantastic Term 2 Prep B has had! They are extremely excited to be halfway through their first year of schooling and are eager to share their new knowledge and skills they have been learning in all curriculum areas with their family and friends.
Under 8’s Day was an absolute highlight on the calendar for this term. Prep B had their senses sent into overdrive from having their hands immersed in the shaving cream and goop troughs to the lurks and surprises that awaited them in the Haunted House. They especially loved the friendly visits from our local police and firemen as well as the clowning around that took place on the oval. It is fair to say that everyone had a wonderful, fun-filled day and slept extremely well that night!
Prep B has been humming with learning in the classroom this term. They have been exploring nursery rhymes in English through visual art and role playing activities to boost their confidence and comprehension of the texts. Friendly competition has also been ignited through the introduction of a "Sight Word Superstar" cape and "Trying at Writing" medals to boost students engagement and learning in reading and writing. Prep B has also been exploring 2D shapes, building their number knowledge, measuring length using informal units and using positional language in maths. They have also enjoyed learning about commemorations in history and attending the ANZAC Day school service and march earlier in the term. Science this term has also seen the students become weather reporters and explore the various types of weather and seasons in our environment through using their senses to make observations as well as take part in classroom experiments.
A momentous occasion also took place this term with Prep B putting on their best school uniform and biggest cheesy grin for their first official school photos. All students looked dapper on the day and had their photos taken in record time with minimal retakes needed. We all look forward to seeing the final results!
Prep B also recently participated in their first Sports Day. All students took part in long jump, shot put, ball games, novelty games, running races and high jump (held in the lead up to the day). However, the "Subway Meal Deal" seemed to be an even bigger hit on the day, surpassing the stickers they received on completion of each activity. A fun day was had by all.
As you can see Prep B has had a wonderful term filled with lots of learning and excitement. We look forward to having a well-deserved break over the holidays and hitting the ground running again in Term 3!
