Half way through term 3 already and 2J are as busy as ever.
This term in English the students explored the work of
‘George’s Marvellous Medicine’ and have been investigating and writing many
different types of Procedures. From ‘how to make ice-cream’ to ‘how to fold
origami’ and their favourite being step-by-step instructions to draw many popular
movie characters including Dori, Nemo and the crew from Inside Out. Who knew we
had some amazing buddy artists in 2J!
In maths, we have been looking at numbers – counting, skip
counting, place value, partitioning, and different ways of making numbers. We
have been using our letter blocks to show flips, slides and turns. We have been
measuring and comparing objects using a range of materials and ordering
according to width, length and now area. Do you know how many paddlepop sticks
cover a desk?
Science has been lots of fun as we discover the changes to
our class pets – mealworms. We have been looking at living and non-living, and
learning all about different lifecycles, food chains and the ways many animals
grow up, both with a family and on their own. Our most exciting news was
sharing our Science Oral Presentations. We had lava lamps, volcanoes, jumping
sand, coloured milk, exploding cola, self-inflating balloons and many more.
In Geography this term we are learning about our world and
our connections to it. A connection can be made to a place: where we live;
where we go to school’ where other members of our family live; where our clothes
are made; where we have visited once; or where we shop. We have also been
looking at maps, and exploring side view and birds eye view.
Overall, we have had an amazing first half of term 3 and
look forward to continuing out learning.
