1F are off to a FANTASTIC start to Term 3! Everyone is super happy to be back to school after their holidays, myself included!
We welcomed our newest class member (mascot) Tigerseye to the class this week, and everyone is looking forward to having their chance to take him on a weekend adventure, and share their experiences in Tigerseye’s weekend journal.
We have started the term learning about how and why animal characters in picture books often have human qualities, and how this helps us to make connections with the stories. We started the week looking at a familiar book, Possum Magic, where we identified and discussed how the possums on our rooves at home wouldn't be eating vegemite sandwiches, lamingtons and pavlova; nor would we see them wearing shoes, riding bikes and speaking in English. Next week, we will be starting to create our own characters with human qualities, which is going to be a whole lot of fun!
In health, the class has been learning about healthy eating. Everyone, including myself, is looking forward to cooking and eating lots of yummy, healthy food in the coming weeks. This week in science, we have been observing the features of the day sky, and discussing how they change from day to day, and day to night. On Monday, we were fortunate enough to observe a blimp fly right over our heads, and on Tuesday we were lucky enough to see a low flying plane! Talk about great timing!
Our 1F team is looking forward to a great term, filled with lots of fun and exciting learning experiences! Term 3 is going to be one to remember!
