Welcome to the Lawnton the family. I am Alcorn Michelle (002).jpgprivileged to be the Principal of Lawnton State School as it is an amazing place of learning for all students. Our school plays a significant role in the lives of children as they grow and develop. Our focus is on the whole learner where every student has access to a quality education, enrichment opportunities, wellbeing, social and emotional support. We empower every student to be a leader of their own learning, realising their potential.

At Lawnton State School we engage students in learning through real world experiences, explicit instruction and learning routines. Our teachers are passionate and take great pride in knowing their learners and understanding their students' diverse needs. We have an incredible inclusive learning team that work alongside our classroom teachers providing students with what they need to enable them to be the best they can be.

We ensure that our teaching practices are current and take into account recent educational research about effective teaching and learning.  Our classrooms are fitted with current technology and students have access to e-learning as well as hands-on concrete materials.

Our strong partnerships with our students, parents, early years networks, high schools and school community equips our Lawnton Learners smooth transitions as they start and end their primary school journey.

​​​ Lawnton State School was established in 1967 and proudly services the community of Lawnton and nearby suburbs in the Moreton Bay Region. We are an inclusive school catering for children across the Preparatory to Year 6 grades of schooling.
At Lawnton, we work in partnership with parents, the students and our school to ensure a safe, caring, orderly, disciplined and productive learning environment where all students can achieve their full potential. Central to the daily life of our school are our values of Learning, Safety and Respect promoted by our school mascot LASAR the Lion. It is through living these values to the best of our ability that we all contribute to making our school the wonderful place it is for all.

At Lawnton State School we offer a range of unique programs and services focused on providing a depth of experiences to meet the diverse needs of all of our children. These programs and services include:

  • Differentiated curriculum focused on meeting the learning needs of all students

  • Tailored Early Years intervention programs including oral language and gross motor development

  • Reading squads supporting daily reading for all students

  • School Wide Positive Support Program targeting positive social interactions including conflict resolution

  • Literacy and numeracy support programs

  • In-class support for  all students through the targeted deployment of specialist teachers and support staff

  • Whole school environmental program including sustainability strategies

  • Choir and instrumental music programs

  • Short term programs targeting specific social skill development including: ‘Boys’ Club, Girls’ Club, Social skills club and more!

  • Daily lunchtime clubs providing children with a range of interest activities: e.g. Groove Club, Art Club, Drama Club, Cooking Club, Indoor and Outdoor Games

  • Supported play for students requiring opportunity to develop greater confidence in their social interactions with others

  • Student leadership program including a student council and a range of formal leadership positions
