Prep Enrolments
Prep students attend school each
day from 8.30am – 2.35pm. Rooms will be open at 8.30am. Parents will be welcome
to come in and spend time with their child completing a puzzle or reading a
book until the program commences at 8.40am. Please ensure that your child is on
time to school as lateness may stress young children and may disrupt the
program that has already started. The playground is out of bounds for all
children before and after school. Please let your child’s teacher know about
arrangements for going home.
Prep children are to wear the
school uniform as they are an integral part of our school community. Prep
classes will participate on a weekly basis in the specialist lessons provided
by the school and will follow the same routines and rules as the rest of the
school community.
We welcome new enrolments
Due to enrolment growth, an Enrolment Management Plan has been initated at Lawnton State School. All students who live within our catchment are eligable for enrolment at Lawnton State School. Any students who reside outside of our catchment are welcome to apply and be placed on a waiting list. Proof of residence is required for all applications of enrolment. All
State Schools are Great schools and we support all our local State primary
schools. If you are interested in your child enrolling at Lawnton State School
at any stage of their education, please do not hesitate to contact our school
in order to arrange an interview and take a tour of the school and our
facilities.
We welcome parent and community involvement
We
welcome involvement of parents and the community at Lawnton State School.
Research has shown that when the community is involved in the life of the
school, outcomes are enhanced for students. The P&C meets on the third
Tuesday of each month at 6.15 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend and we would be
delighted if new parents could join us.
Parents
are also welcome to get involved in other ways including:
- Volunteering in the cafe or uniform shop.
- Classroom support.
- Assisting in the library.
- Helping with excursions and swimming supervision.
Those
parents who wish to assist are most welcome. Please see your child’s teacher,
or the office if interested. All volunteers will need to undertake some
mandatory training and provide some documentation but this can be discussed
with our office staff.
Each
Friday morning the school community comes together for parade where classes
present items, awards are given and celebrations occur. Parents are very
welcome to attend and stay afterward for a cuppa with the principal and other
community members.
